Access Virus Ti Software4/15/2021
The Pulse 2 is very good as well and has an 8 voice paraphonic mode.Ive been using the Virus for years now and while I find that it is most often a good option it is almost never the best option. It lacks edges and integrity and yet also doesnt stack well in tracks, taking up too much space and at times sounding weak.I honestly dont care if its digital or analog but Id like it to have dedicated physical controls for subtractive synthesis, at least to a basic degree.
Id also like to have an arpeggiator with at least as much functionality as the Virus. And Id like it to include a keyboard of at least 37 keys though preferably more. Im basically just curious to know what alternatives exist at this point. Cost is not an issue as Im looking for my primary synthesizer. EDIT: So far suggestions have been - Waldorf Q - Nord Lead 4 - KingKORG - John Bowen Solaris - Modulus 002 - (and for some reason, though Im not asking for it, people keep suggesting analogue monos). Does the Solaris have enough users at this point that there are good representative modern synth sounds. Interesting modulating pads, gated trance sounds and the like I work across a large array of genres and it would be nice to have sounds that I can keep come quickly in high pressure studio settings. That said, it doesnt surprise me that an Access Virus user never moved beyond general preset use. Despite its ample knobs, the user interface isnt exactly intuitive or user friendly. Maybe youll be better off in the end if you sell it for a synth with a better interface and then spend some time learning the basics of sound design. ![]() If money is really no issue, go with a Modulus.002. Ive heard it ships with something like 1500 presets and from what I can tell they sound great. Not only from a sound design stance, but the engine itself sounds fantastic. Ill go as far as to say that its hands down the best sounding digital synth Ive ever heard. However, I wonder if what youre missing is a good ol analog filter. The Virus is great, especially as a wavetable synth, but, IMO, the filters can sound a bit. Maybe a good idea would be to keep the Virus and complement it with an analog of some flavor There are currently a bunch out that I consider to be really good. The Boomstars are fantastic, Dominion 1 demos sound great to me.
